In many cultures it is commonly believed that a strong intent is a key to success and without a strong desire to accomplish something you are doomed to fail.
It is obvious that by focusing on goals and tasks, a person subconsciously finds the best way to accomplish them. A strong desire makes us concentrated and mobilises our powers.
Sometimes people do not really know what they want. Their mind is full of contradictions which is by the way a normal condition of human being. Quite the opposite situation is when we have a clear idea of what to do and no doubts interfere with our thoughts.
Most of the time is being spent on convincing yourself while action is direct and simple. Motivational experts such as Anthony Robbins argue that the first thing to do is to create an idea or urgency, that you cannot live without something, then your achievement happens by itself.
But is it really that simple?
In real life situation the result of your actions usually depends on many factors and not only your desires. For example you become may become sick, someone else on whom you depend may fail and so on.
While some people believe that a thought can be material, the true situation is that the only person whom you can influence by thinking is you. Other ideas may be found in religion and mysticism.
In my opinion our mind is really a mystery, anyway we should rely more on reason to control our actions. And a failure is not a proof but a signal to give it another try. Successful people fail too but what makes them different is that they never give up.
